Pearl Collection

History says the very first pearl was discovered accidentally while searching the seashore for food.

The ancient Egyptians prized pearls so much they were buried with them.

Pearl popularity reached its peak during Roman times when women of the privileged class were richly adorned with them. The Roman general Vitellius is said to have financed an entire military campaign by selling just one of his mother’s pearl earrings. The popularity of pearls came at such a price and they were so highly regarded, a number of European countries actually passed laws forbidding anyone but the nobility to wear them.

Pearls are knows as "gems of the sea". They are said to allow a person to open up and find the meaning and the purpose of one’s “true self.” They are believed to enlighten the mind and inspire the mood, while helping the wearer to learn to love herself more and, in turn, help her love others more, as well

The most famous pearl ever is called the La Peregrina. It is pear shaped and about the size of a pigeon’s egg. Its history spans almost 500 years and it has been passed from the African salve who found it at Pearl Islands in the Gulf of Panama, to European Kings and Queens. Most recently, this pearl belonged to Elizabeth Taylor.
